Working At Balcombe Place

We are a private house, hired on an exclusive use basis throughout the year. We are a small but ever expanding team and we are always looking for new members to join us.

Roles are offered on a part time basis, as and when we have events here at Balcombe Place. Please contact us with your interest, CV and location. Once we have events you will be contacted for availability and paid hourly at a competitive rate. 

Interviews will be carried out immediately depending on the role. Your first shift will be your trial shift, paid, depending on the role.

Maintenance & Grounds/Events Set-up Person

Duties include house maintenance, grounds maintenance and events set-up and set-down. Our ideal applicant will need to have good general maintenance skills and have a willingness to adapt. Having your own transport is necessary. 35hr week with additional hours available during events.

The responsibilities include: routine inspection of buildings to identify maintenance needs, perform repairs and maintenance tasks such as carpentry work, operate power tools and hand tools safely and efficiently and assisting the events team as necessary. Desirable skills include: experience in maintenance or a related field, proficiency in using power tools and hand tools, the ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks and the ability to work independently and use initiative

House Supervisor

We are looking for a House Supervisor to oversee the running of the house during an event. Experience in waitressing, bar service, and general public interaction, attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and a big smile are essential. This role is for weekends with weddings (15-20 a year), other events and also has further room for the role to develop for the right candidate.

Role includes finishing touches and finer details to the ground floor of the house throughout the event. Some essential event housekeeping, serving, clearing and resetting all house meals. Supervising house staff during the event.

Approximate event hours for a weekend would be: Friday 5pm - 10pm / Saturday 7am - 2pm / Sunday 9am - 2pm. Competitive rate of pay.

Bar Manager

The bar managers role is to run the bar on event days. We are looking for someone who can set up the bar, make drinks, supervise the bar staff, close the till and clear down the bar area. Experience in bar work is necessary and more important is a good attitude. We are looking for somebody trustworthy and able to deal with difficult issues and guests calmly and professionally. Competitive rate of pay.

The Balcombe Events Team

We are looking for enthusiastic, energetic, and friendly service staff to join our events team.

Experience in waitressing, bar service, and general public interaction are desired. Attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and a big smile are essential. The Balcombe Team are focused on drinks service rather than food service, including tray service for receptions, top-ups, bar service, tables service, etc.

You will be added to our staff list and contacted for shifts as required. Shifts are given to those who respond first, are reliable and efficient. Competitive rate of pay.
